Sri Lankan Security forces are stationed in large numbers in Tamil areas even though the war has ended seven years ago. There is one military to every five civilians in the Tamil areas, which is believed to be the highest military to civilian ratio in the world.

Over 70 thousand Tamils were killed in six months in 2009 and hundreds of Tamil women were raped by the Sri Lankan Security forces (UN figure).

There are over 90 thousand Tamil war widows and thousands of Tamils disappeared. Sri Lankan Prime Minister said that the disappeared are now dead.
